BALANCED REFINEMENT COPPER (BRC)
Unlike most of our rivals who religiously adhere to the utilization of Oxygen Free Copper (OFC), we have elected a different touch with BRC - Balanced Refinement Copper. Every ounce we use is mined in Russia’s Ural Region and undergoes electrolytic refinement to achieve a completely uniform, defect-free crystal structure with unrivalled conductivity, high ductility and resistance to tearing.
Extensive analysis combined with painstaking listening tests helped us identify the list of chemical elements that most negatively affect the sound: Si, S, As, Ge, Sn, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co. In contrast, trace amounts of silver (Ag) and lead (Pb) are relatively benign, as they increase the recrystallization temperature and help the wire maintain high electrical conductivity even under mechanical stress.
This effect might be likened to mineral water. Many impurities are definitely unwelcome but the residual presence of other substances results in a water that is preferable in taste terms to “purer” distilled water. Seeking for a similar benefit in conductors, we place orders for copper rods with the specified impurity ratios. Named Balanced Refinement Copper (BRC) it reveals stunning musical fidelity, rendering information precisely as it was captured without even slightest coloration.
Trace concentrations of the most undesirable elements in BRC conductors, utilized in our Standard, Special, Pro, Classic, and Reference series, correspond to incremental purity levels between 4N and 6N (99.99–99.9999%), according to the standard OFC classification. BRC+ conductors, reserved exclusively for the flagship Ultimate range, achieve purity equivalent to 7N (99.99999%), which is the highest degree of copper purity attainable in the High-End industry to date.
INSULATORS
Complex insulation, which is a combination of conductor insulation and dielectric binding, is what Tchernov Cable is widely renowned for. We opted for the Russian-made completely nonpolar polyethylene (PE) without artificial polymerization accelerators (that do have polar molecular structure) to keep the dielectric loss at a record low level. Different PTFE tapes are used for dielectric bindings and our cutting-edge SATI® insulation, which has no equal in the High-End industry to date.
JACKETS
The importance of quality jacketing can’t be underestimated as numerous vibrations have a critical influence on the audio band. The innovative Combined 2-layer SPVC jacket with an air-foamed inner layer, pioneered by Tchernov Cable exemplifies long-term dielectric stability, efficient absorption of acoustic noise and vibrational loads along with enviable flexibility. There is nothing similar on the market to date.
However, in our top-end Reference & Ultimate cables the extraordinary thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Elastollan® is used to reach the industry-leading damping efficiency. Developed by BASF, Elastollan® is renowned for a formidable array of features, including incredible mechanical strength and vibration absorption, as well as resistance to abrasions, tears, chemicals and temperature fluctuations.
ORGANIC DYES & ADDITIVES
The unique Russian-made purely organic dyes with the exact SPVC molecular matching are used for jacket coloring. These dyes have no analogs elsewhere in the world as they do not contain any metal ingredients that degrade the consistency of insulating materials.
An antistatic treatment reduces the microphonic effect and the cable’s susceptibility to EMI by preventing the build-up of static electricity on the jacket’s surface. A stabilizing additive serves for the homogeneity of the SPVC elastron during its extruding and subsequent hardening.
SOLDER SFS/AG
Tchernov Cable uses its own original solder with a low melting point of only 180°C and perfect silver and copper ratios. The presence of a special flux maintains the unbeatable soldering homogeneity. An optimal diameter of 0.8 mm makes termination with any connector type straightforward. The SFS/AG solder is manufactured to our technical specification in Japan.
